The cheque was presented to Dr Reg Kingston on behalf of the organisation, which translates as Doctors Without Borders and offers emergency medical care in more than 60 countries around the world, including the conflict zones of Syria and Yemen.

The charity helps those affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from healthcare.

Handing over the money were parish priest Fr Brian Kealey, parishioners Kathleen Entwistle and Maureen Smith, Lisa Stansfield, from Christ the King School, and pupils Ruby Stansfield, Isabel Stanfield and Abigail Clegg.
