Pub reopens after £240,000 investment

Situated near the Nelson-Colne boundary on Burnley Road, the former Golden Ball has been closed for three weeks for refurbishment.

As a result, the investment has created up to five new jobs.

Inside, the pub has been redecorated in a traditional style and there are sports facilities and screens showing live sport.

A new menu has been introduced featuring home-made food, including freshly-baked cakes by the manager Laura Redman.

The pub will also be introducing a wider selection of drinks, including cask ales and coffees.

Dene is putting in a management couple, Laura Redman and Jonathan Snowball, who are looking forward to running the pub: “The pub looks fantastic and I can’t believe the transformation.

“We’ve changed the name to the Spinning Mill to reflect the close association of the immediate area with textile industry.

“We haves some great plans for the pub and will be having various sports teams, a quiz night and we are really proud of the new landscaped beer garden and look to make the most of this in the summer. The investment has given us the new facilities and garden area to allow us to cater for families, strengthen our menu and ultimately bring the pub back to the community.”

Punch Taverns’ Partnership Development Manager, Matt Dutton, is also looking forward to the launch: “It’s great that Punch can invest in our pubs and we essentially want to reposition the Spinning Mill as one of the leading pubs for great value food and drink, sports and entertainment for the whole community. Everyone is really pleased with the transformation and I expect the launch night to be busy with local residents eager to see the pub’s new look.”
