The Usha in Rossendale Road will see its bar extended and the interior completely updated as part of a £150,000 refurb set to take place in the summer.

It will be the first major work done on the restaurant since it opened in 2002 and head chef Ibby Ali said they could not wait.

“We’re going to take the bar back and have it as a cocktail bar with a VIP lounge. There will be a bigger reception area and separate takeaway section.

“Inside we’re going to have a seasonal theme. Outside in the conservatory will be summer and inside there will be winter, spring and autumn area. We can’t wait.”

Staff at the restaurant had further reason to celebrate just a few weeks ago when they picked up Best Indian Restaurant in the North West title at the 4th Asian Curry Awards.

“Everybody is still really on high from that and now with this we have something to look forward to for next. It’s really exciting. We’ve not done anything like this since we first opened and it’s going to be good to freshen things up.

“The restaurant will probably have to close for a couple of weeks and then we’ll have a grand
re-opening so everybody can come and celebrate with us.”
