Prostate cancer checks at the Turf
Men should head to Turf Moor tomorrow to be tested for prostate cancer.
The East Lancashire Prostate Cancer Support Group is holding the event, supported by Burnley Football Club In The Community, in the Bob Lord stand from 9am to noon.
Testing will be carried out by qualified staff and Gary Steele, who was awarded an MBE for helping save lives by persuading men to go and get tested rather than leaving it too late, will be there. He was diagnosed at a late stage due to having no symptoms. Prostate cancer is the most prominent cancer affecting men. It is recommended that over 50s, and over 45s if there is a family history, have a simple 30-second blood test. Results are sent out in 7 to 10 days. A £10 donation is suggested to help cover costs.
