Community groups in Mellor were invited to express an interest in acquiring part of The Rann Woodland in Saccary Lane as a community facility, after the owners stated their intention to sell it.

But as the woodland is included on the Ribble Valley Register of Community Assets community groups were given the right to bid for the half that was for sale as a community facility.

Now, Mellor Parish Council has asked to be treated as a potential bidder for the woodland, meaning any sale will be subject to a moratorium until May 12th, 2021.

Other community groups also wishing to be considered as potential bidders have until Thursday, December 24th, to state their intention.

They should do so in writing to Mair Hill, Head of Legal and Democratic Services, Ribble Valley Borough Council, Council Offices, Church Walk, Clitheroe, BB7 2RA.

As an expression of interest has now been received, the part of the woodland in question is now subject to a moratorium until May 12th, 2021, and protected from further moratoriums until May 12th, 2022.
