Nominations are being sought for the scheme which will look to recognise the individuals and organisations who have stepped up to help others during the past few weeks.

Whether it be delivering food to vulnerable people, taking PPE to those on the frontline, donating food or drink, cheering up the town by playing music or something else, Mr Higginbotham wants to hear about the town's unsung heroes.

“I have been absolutely blown away at how well Burnley, Padiham and our surrounding villages has responded to the crisis," said Mr Higginbotham. “We’ve seen so many acts of kindness and a real feeling that we will look after those who need it. Those who have gone above and beyond deserve recognition as they are the unsung heroes."
