PC Ruth Syers was repeatedly bitten by Sandra Wardle’s Staffordshire bull terrier, Kitso, when she attended a disturbance at a house in Rylands Street in May.

Wardle (58), of Burnley Road, Brierfield, was charged with being drunk and disorderly, failing to comply with a dog control order and allowing a dog out of control to cause injury.

Judge Beverly Lunt ordered a bench warrant not backed for bail to bring Wardle to court.
