Police witness appeal after fatal car smash

A 76-year-old woman who was seriously injured following a collision in Haslingden last week has sadly died.

The collision happened around 1-05pm on last Friday (April 10th) in Blackburn Road. A Renault Clio was travelling towards Bury Road when it was involved in a collision with a lamppost and overturned.

The driver, Patricia Stansfield, from Haslingden, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where she died in the early hours of yesterday (Thursday).

An investigation into how the collision occurred is on-going and officers are appealing for anyone with information about what happened to contact them.

PS Alan Baron said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are very much with the family and friends of Patricia. We are continuing our investigation into the circumstances of the collision and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact us with any information they may have.”
