Police raise £2,000 for cancer charity
The force was certainly with the keen trekkers, who walked, ran, or jogged the 10 and a half miles from Burnley Police Station to Whitebirk’s Greenbank Police Station.
Officers gave up a day off to take part in the challenge, organised by Inspector Andy Carter, who said: “Initially, the event was planned as a New Year fitness challenge but we decided to bring in a charity element and Rosemere Cancer Foundation came out on top for the help it has given to colleagues, family and friends over the years.
“We hoped to raise around £500 so to achieve the total we have is fantastic and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported us by making a donation via our Just Giving page or adding to the bucket collection at both stations,” he added.
Donations can still be made at www.justgiving.com/Kaela-Peacock in aid of Rosemere Cancer Foundation, which aims to bring world-class cancer treatment and services to patients throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria via local hospitals and the Rosemere Cancer Centre at the Royal Preston Hospital.
