PC Dean Baxter, of the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: “We have been working hard to piece together exactly what occurred.
"We are now led to believe that a black Ford, containing at least two people, may have stopped at the scene to offer assistance following the collision. However, they left before officers could obtain their details.
“We would now like to speak to them to see if they witnessed anything that could help us with our investigation.
