The incident occurred at around 7.20pm on Friday, March 13th, when a silver Vauxhall Vectra was involved in a collision with a tree.
Four people in the car received injuries, including one who suffered a serious injury to his back.
Police would now like to speak to the occupants of a black Ford – possibly a Focus – who they believe may have stopped at the scene following the collision, but left before they could be spoken to by police.
PC Dean Baxter, of the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: “We have been working hard to piece together exactly what occurred.
"We are now led to believe that a black Ford, containing at least two people, may have stopped at the scene to offer assistance following the collision. However, they left before officers could obtain their details.
“We would now like to speak to them to see if they witnessed anything that could help us with our investigation.
“If you know who they may be, or if you think this is you, please get in touch with as soon as possible.”
Anybody with information should email [email protected] or call 101, quoting log number 1231 of March 13th.
