Police hunt Bacup bank robber dressed in burka

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a man dressed in a burka robbed a bank in Bacup.

Around 3-10pm yesterday (Monday), a man entered Barclays bank in Market Street and demanded money from the cashier.

The cashier handed over an amount of money and the man left, nobody was hurt, although the female member of staff was left shaken.

The man is described as being white, of medium build and around 5ft. 9in/10in. tall. He was wearing a burka and white trainers and was carrying a white, plastic Co-Op carrier bag.

Det. Insp. Vinny De Curtis said: “I would appeal to anybody who thinks they may have seen this man either before or after the robbery, perhaps getting in to or out of a car, to contact police.

“If anybody has any information they think could help us with our inquiry then please come forward.”
