Police appeal after Nelson road smash

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Nelson.

The incident happened in Marsden Road, near the junction with Hillingdon Road North, on Friday, around 6-30pm.

A black Seat Ibiza was involved in a collision with a red scooter. The rider of the scooter sustained head and chest injuries and was detained in the Royal Blackburn Hospital overnight.

PC Brendan Williams from Pennine Road Policing Unit said: “I would appeal to anyone in the area at the time to come forward and contact the police.

“Fortunately the rider did not receive serious injuries but he did have to remain in hospital overnight. If anyone witnessed what happened they should come forward and get in touch with us.”
