Please can we have our £2.99 trophy back?

Football League bosses had decided to take the trophy north to Middlesbrough in case they captured the crown.

But the Cornwall Clarets came to the rescue by handing over a £2.99 inflatable cup which became the photographic focal point of coverage accross the world.

And now the Cornwall Clarets are hoping to find out just what did happen to the inflatable which was paraded around The Valley by the victorious Clarets champions.

The trophy was taken into the ground by Phil and Dan Barsley only after extensive arguments with stewards who were reluctant to let the inflatable into the stadium.

At the final whistle the pair ran on the pitch and managed to hand the trophy to Matt Lowton just before he went down the tunnel to the changing rooms with his fellow Clarets. The cup was featured extensively on television coverage as the players showered champagne and celebrated before re-emerging onto the pitch still clutching the inflatable trophy.

The last time the pair saw it was when Dean Marney posed for pictures with his son. And now they have contacted Burnley FC media manager Darren Bentley to seek his help in tracking down the prized possession.
