£10m HOTEL BID GOES TO PLANNERS

As revealed by the Burnley Express in October, the £10.5m. hotel is set to be built at the Woodland Spa complex.

Owner Andrew Brown wants the hotel to become a regional venue for business travellers, but also sees it as a complement to the centre’s award-winning spa, situated at Crow Wood Leisure Centre.

Plans and designs have now been drawn up for the four star 80-bedroom hotel, conference and banqueting centre, which would be built on spare land next to the spa.

Mr Brown said: “We think there’s a demand for it in the area, and the success of the Woodland Spa has reinforced that belief. The spa has proven that we can pull in people from 50 miles away, but the problem is that there is a long waiting list.”

Up to 70 new jobs would be created if the plan is approved.
