PHOTO SPECIAL: Sabden Duck Race 2013

Well over 1,000 little yellow ducks swam down Sabden Brook on Sunday afternoon watched by hundreds of spectators.

Sabden’s went quackers for its annual Duck Race which was a huge success and major fund-raiser for the village football club, Sabden FC.

Every duck was sold and Stacey Shipston from the Village News was the owner of the duck that crossed the line first winning £200 donated by Forbes Solicitors. Other cash prizes were £100 donated by DH Stainless, £75 donated by The Village News and £50 by Castle Sheet Metal.

The fun event took place in glorious sunshine and hundreds turned out to watch the ducks make their way slowly down the brook which is fairly shallow due to the good weather.

The race followed a first team v veterans friendly football match which wasclosely won by the first team. Manager Simon Fielding said he wanted to thank the village for all the support.
