World Day of Prayer at Burnley church

Women from Zimbabwe will this year prepare the annual World Day of Prayer service, one of which will be held at a Burnley church.

Formerly called the Women's World Day of Prayer, the service will take place this Friday at 1-45pm at St Catherine's CE Church, Todmorden Road.

The service is prepared this year by women of Zimbabwe, and the same service will take place throughout the world on the same day.

The theme is "rise, take up your mat and walk."

The Mayor of Burnley, Coun. Anne Kelly and her consort will be in attendance, and the Mayor will read part of the service. Pupils from Blessed Trinity RC College will also take part. All welcome, refreshments afterwards.

The service lasts approximately one hour so that parents and grandparents can collect children from school.
