Forced to close their business, Eastham Plant engineers as the pandemic hit, the couple, who have been together several years but only tied the knot in 2019, have now made several planters and also bird boxes.

They even found themselves catering for requests from dog owners wanting planters designed in the images of their pets!

Julie said: "John makes all the planters and I paint them and add the finishing touches."

And this labour of love has raised the grand total of £800 for Pendleside Hospice, a charity close to Julie's heart as several relatives and a number of her friends have been cared for there.

She added: "We felt that the hospice was slightly forgotten during this pandemic so wanted to give something back to them for the fantastic work they do."
