Turf Moor event raises over Â£10,000 for Pendleside Hospice

The Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley were amongst more than 150 attendees at a celebratory ball at Turf Moor in honour of Pendleside Hospice's 30th anniversary which raised more than Â£10,000 for the healthcare institution.

Organised by Paul Anderson, the Managing Director local stairlift and mobility equipment supplier Jay-Care, and his wife Louise, the dinner dance event not only welcomed the likes of the Mayor of Burnley, Councillor Howard Baker, and his partner Tracey Rhodes, but also auctioned off a raft of football memorabilia including signed Burnley FC and Manchester United footballs.

Those in attendance also had the chance to get their hands on a basket hamper from the Prince of Wales’ Highgrove estate, with Paul Anderson saying: “It was a brilliant night. I am so, so proud of what we managed to achieve. We set ourselves a target of £10,000 for the hospice and we nailed it... and some!”

Helen McVey, Chief Executive at Pendleside Hospice, said: “I would like to thank Paul and Louise for all the hard work they put in for the ball and for the fabulous amount of money they raised for the hospice.”

The event raised over 10,000 for Pendleside.

Keen to do his part, Louise Anderson is also preparing to run the London Marathon in April for Pendleside, with both her and her husband having raised £6,500 after running the marathon in 2015 for the Gail Simpson Memorial Fund for Pendleside.
