Poppy Appeal goal for Fulledge Colts YFC

The Colts present their cheque to members of the Burnley and Padiham RBL

Fulledge Colts Youth Football Club presented a cheque for £400 to the Burnley and Padiham branch of the RBL at its office in Burnley Market Hall.

Club secretary Trish Howard said: "The money will go towards the Legion's Poppy Appeal, where it will be used to contribute towards all the good work the members do helping out local people.

"The money was raised by the club donating £1 for each player we have signed on at the club."

Billy Allott, from the Legion, said: "This is a wonderful effort by this wonderful club. The money will be used for advising and signposting veterans and serving personnel of our armed forces to get the best expert advice on a range of problems.

"Problems such as homelessness, debt, gambling, alcoholism to sleep deprivation and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

"On behalf of the whole RBL I sincerely thank all at Fulledge Colts FC. The adults who give up much of their time to coach and organise something like 33 teams and about 400 players.

"It is astonishing to think of all these youngsters being given guidance and helping them to focus on their future. In my time at their age I really do wish we had the people and venues they have now."
