Police launch appeal for information after man arrested for brandishing weapon in Burnley road

Police are appealing for information after a man was arrested for brandishing a weapon in a Burnley street last night.

The man was arrested after the incident in Venice Avenue at around 11-45pm and he is currently in custody.

An hour earlier an incident involving two vehicles happened at the junction of Harold Avenue and Rossendale Road.

Police believe that damage was caused to a vehicle by a male in possession of a weapon.

A spokesman for Burnley and Padiham Police said: " If anyone has witnessed these incidents then we would urge you to get in touch.

"Likewise, if anyone lives in that area, please check any CCTV cameras, dashcams or any mobile phone footage they may have obtained."
