Pendle animal charity's urgent appeal to save dog on death row

An animal charity is urgently appealing to the public to help save a dog on death row.

Pendle Dogs is looking for someone to foster a male dog that is currently in the stray kennels.

Stray dogs can only stay in the pound for seven days in the UK before they are put to sleep if left unclaimed.

The charity is concerned that this animal “is running out of time”.

A Pendle Dogs spokesperson said: “Stray dogs only get seven days to be reunited, and if this doesn’t happen, they are at risk of getting put to sleep due to a lack of room in the stray kennels.

"He needs a foster home finding now to keep him safe.

"We don’t know anything about him, not even his name or age, but he’s shown nothing but affection to everyone he meets and is a well-mannered, nice boy.

"He shows no reactions to other dogs, but would need further testing before he could be placed in a home with any.

"We urgently need dog and young child-free foster homes to help us to save this county’s dumped and unwanted dogs. Without your help, we can’t get them out and safe.

"Could you help us to save him?”

Pendle Dogs is a self-funded animal rescue. It helped nearly 200 dogs last year, along with its sister organisation, North West Pound Dogs.

We have previously reported that the charity is facing a crisis due to the pressures of pet abandonments and the cost of caring for unwanted animals.
