Held at Burnley's Heasandford Primary School, competitors Kian Parkinson, Tia Butterworth, Isobel Olerenshaw and Alfie Stevenson took part in the Rock Stars Times Table challenge which is designed to help students master mathematical skills.

The first was a multiplication grid which they completed the quickest. They then went to the computers and logged onto TT Rock Stars and competed in three minute challenges for 15 minutes to get as many correct answers as possible.

This was followed by a quiz and out of all the 12 schools taking part Padiham Primary were the victors. And considering the competition was aimed at year four students and three of the Padiham youngsters are still in year three the victory was even better.

There were approximately 200 competitors that challenged out tables battles for one minute.

Padiham Primary came out top on the averages in this first round and all three competitors excelled themselves.

And Dalton won his way through to the final and was runner up.

Deputy headteacher Mr Chris Dunderdale said: "Both were fantastic days and show once again that Padiham are tops when it comes to tables."
