'Multi-generational' plan for new £3m. bungalow scheme in South West Burnley

Calico Homes is hoping to encourage a multigenerational neighbourhood on the Florence Avenue site, with many of the residents moving into their brand-new homes before Christmas.

The 24 bungalows will provide a mixture of independent living homes for over 55s, supported living for those requiring additional care and homes ideal for young families. With this diverse mix of housing, Calico Homes hope to create a vibrant multigenerational neighbourhood.

Each bungalow has a dedicated garden and driveway and boasts beautiful views of Pendle Hill. Most of the properties also feature wet rooms and wheelchair friendly level access.

For people living in homes that are no longer practical, due to mobility issues or a change in family circumstances, these new bungalows provide an option to move into a more suitable property. This will allow people who already live nearby to maintain a local connection and stay close to their support networks in South West Burnley.

With the neighbourhood situated near Valley Street Community Centre, residents will benefit from a communal setting in which they can meet their neighbours and get involved in various local projects and events once restrictions are lifted

The land, a cleared housing site, had previously been left as an empty grassed area With affordable housing and regeneration being a top priority for The Calico Group, Calico Homes identified an urgent need for this particular type of accommodation in the area.
