Lockdown artists to exhibit at popular Clitheroe gallery

The gallery has reopened following lockdown, albeit with a few changes in line with Government guidance.
Residents unleashed their creativity during lockdown in response to nine themes set by Ribble Valley Borough Council’s arts development team.

Hide AdOver 140 pieces from the project, called Isolation Art, were posted on the council’s arts development Facebook page and are now to be exhibited throughout this month at the Platform Gallery in Station Road, Clitheroe.
Katherine Rodgers, the council’s arts development officer, said: “We wanted to shine a light on the fabulous artistic talent in our borough during lockdown, as well as encourage beginners to try their hand at something new.
“We received over 140 submissions, including paintings, photography, poetry and print, and were astounded by the quality, depth and breadth of work.
“Now, residents can see how creativity has united people and supported their mental health during the difficult recent months.”

Hide AdA one-way system now operates at the gallery, with entry via the side door and exit via the main entrance.
The gallery will now close at 4-30pm Monday to Friday and 4pm on Saturday to allow for extra cleaning, and will not open on Sundays.
Screens will be in place and staff will wear visors and masks when showing people jewellery from cabinets.
Brochures and leaflets will be handed out at the gallery’s visitor information centre, but there will be no browsing.

Hide AdIn line with Government guidance, visitors are asked to hand sanitise when entering the gallery and wear a mask.
