Joy for young performers as Burnley Youth Theatre announces re-opening

Burnley Youth Theatre has announced it will re-open next week, with workshops starting on Tuesday.

The team at the theatre have been working hard over the past few weeks and months to make sure that the building and all workshops are covid secure ready for participants, staff and artists to return as safely as possible.

When it was announced that theatres across the UK must close in March Burnley Youth Theatre reacted immediately, creating a fantastic online programme of zoom workshops, Facebook Lives and YouTube videos, to encourage people to stay creative throughout lockdown.

inclusive Youth Theatre Programme which offers a range of creative workshops for young people up to the age ogf 18.

The youth theatre also offers ‘Connect’ sessions for children, young people and adults with disabilities or learning difficulties. The fully supported sessions are a perfect introduction to the world of theatre whilst making new

friends.

Theatre bosses were delighted in July when it was announced it had been awarded a grant of almost £20,000 to help it stay afloat during the pandemic.

Funding of £19,587 has come from the Arts Council England's emergency response fund.

The grant helped to sustain the organisation during its period of closure and put it in a stronger position to continue its work with children, young people and families across schools and communities.
