Inspirational Clitheroe siblings raise almost £1,400 for hospice in memory of their beloved grandfather

Kind-hearted brother and sister Dylan and Melody Whiteley, decided to take on a fundraising challenge each with their father, Lee, to raise money for the East Lancashire Hospice in honour of their 'Grandpa', Barry Webb, who spent his last days there.

A pupil of Ribblesdale High School, Dylan (12) and Lee walked 64k in a day and although there may have been times of struggle, Dylan knew why he decided to take on the gruelling challenge and made sure he completed it.

His nine-year-old sister, Melody, who attends Edisford Primary School, Clitheroe, took on a mini triathlon with Lee. She ran one mile, cycled two miles and then finished with swimming 500 meters.

The brother and sister collectively raised £1,393.01 for the Blackburn-based hospice.

Leanne Green, events fundraiser for the hospice, said: “Dylan and Melody have been raising money every year since 2016 for the hospice and we love knowing what their next challenge will be.

"The brother and sister team are fantastic ambassadors for the hospice and we are extremely lucky to have amazing support from the community.”
