Individuality celebrated at Clitheroe school to mark Anti-Bullying Week

However, on closer investigation, staff confirmed that the children at St Michael and St John’s RC Primary School were taking part in activities to mark Anti-Bullying Week and one of these activities was wearing odd socks in order to celebrate their uniqueness.

Coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, Anti-Bullying Week shines a spotlight on bullying.

It encourages all children, teachers and parents to take action against bullying throughout the year.

During the week, pupils at St Michael and St John’s, which is based on Lowergate in Clitheroe, took part in the odd socks day which had been launched by children’s TV star Andy Day.

And as an added bonus, schools taking part in odd socks day also have the chance to win a visit from Andy Day and his band Andy and the Odd Socks.

Other activities at the school included an anti-bullying assembly, lessons on anti-bullying in each class and an anti-bullying charter signed by all pupils at the school.
