Hassan Mahmood said he was prompted to carry out the kind acts after hearing how ordinary members of the public were struggling to find PPE during the lockdown.

He has since delivered more than 300 pieces of PPE to the public across Nelson and Brierfield and is constantly receiving requests for more.

The former Conservative tow councillor for Whitefield said: "I have sourced the gloves and masks from a contact in Manchester who is doing something similar.

Some of the PPE donated

"I am paying for it out of my pocket as I feel it is something worthwhile to do for the local community during these difficult times."
