Managing director Paul McShane said: “We are committed to supporting our local community and its charities during the pandemic and are incredibly grateful to Stanley Black and Decker for the generosity they have shown with the double matching of all donations.

“Vital income sources such as the incredibly important fundraising events that Pendleside Hospice hosts each year have had to be cancelled and we wanted to do everything we could to help. By doing something fun and online both boosted morale within the team – all while raising money.

“The Pendleside team provides so much care and compassion to its patients and we want to thank our employees for getting behind the donation day and digging deep to help raise what is an astonishing amount of money for a truly inspiring cause.”

Christina Cope, head of Corporate at Pendleside, said: “The continued support from the Pipeline Induction Heat team is very much appreciated. 2020 been a difficult year for everyone and here at Pendleside as we couldn’t hold our regular fundraising activities.

“We did however rise to the challenge by increasing our bed capacity from 10 to 18. We are currently looking after 100 patients with our Hospice at Home nursing staff, offering support to District Nurses and local care homes.

“Our bereavement team are giving much needed virtual counselling support to anyone in the Burnley and Pendle areas, not only to those whose loved ones we cared for.

"The team at PIH and Stanley Black and Decker can rightly be very proud of themselves knowing that they helped the hospice during the Covid pandemic. This donation really will make a huge difference to so many people and we do guarantee that all the money raised stays local.”
