Football league legend turned podcast star Jon “The Beast” Parkin will be a guest speaker at a special sportsman’s dinner being held to raise money for charity Pendleside Hospice.

Colne United, one of Pendle’s oldest amateur football clubs, is hosting this special event at Colne Cricket Club on Friday, September 16, to support the fundraising efforts of club captain, Andrew Frost, who is running this year’s London Marathon on behalf of the hospice.

Known for his “unconventional” career in the beautiful game, which included 225 goals in 680 games for 15 clubs, Jon, who played for a number of clubs including Preston North End, York City and Macclesfield Town, is now a presenter on the highly popular Undr the Cosh football podcast.

He’ll be sharing his hilarious no-holds-barred stories during the evening, while guests will also get the chance to ask him questions during a Q&A session.The night, which includes a hot food supper, will also feature a performance from popular Yorkshire comedian Lea Roberts, and a raffle with gifts kindly donated from local businesses including The Alma Inn, Marsden Golf Club, Chill Factore, and Reel Cinema.The event is being kindly sponsored by XLCR Vehicle Management while fellow local businesses Boundary Carpets, Petty Real Estate Agents, AB Plumbing, and Neil Thompson Joinery have all supported the evening.Tickets for the event are priced at £25 per person.
