Former Burnley student C Douglas earns Piccadilly Records ‘staff pick’ for new EP
Former Burnley student and Paris-based musician C Douglas has landed a major boost for his solo career after his debut EP 75019 was named Piccadilly Records’ staff pick of the week.
The Manchester institution praised the four-track release, produced by Hull’s Steve Cobby of Fila Brazillia and released via Golden Lion Sounds, as “sophisticated whimsy and synth-pop stardom” that’s set to brighten up winter evenings.
In a glowing in-store review, Piccadilly said: “Golden Lion deliver a supreme curveball… C Douglas offers up a light-hearted but thoughtfully penned EP that shimmers like a spring morning and unfurls joyously.”

Only 100 vinyl copies of 75019 have been pressed, with Piccadilly warning fans to “get those skates on” as demand is expected to be high.
Reacting to the news, James Douglas Clarke, known as C Douglas for his solo work, and who grew up in Todmorden and studied at Blessed Trinity RC College and Burnley College, said the recognition was particularly meaningful.
“I used to buy my records here while at university in Manchester. It was the only time in my life I felt kind of rich – thank you student loan and thank you Piccadilly Records,” he said. “It’s a real honour.”
The musician, now based in Paris, has also revealed he is already in early talks about a follow-up release.
“I hope to have the next C Douglas EP on the way soon and have been talking to Golden Lion Sounds and Steve Cobby,” he said. “I just need to put a few things together to hopefully make this happen.”
75019 is out now on Golden Lion Sounds. Copies can be bought here.
