Jasper (14), who is a pupil at the Queens Road school, appeared on the popular ITV show yesterday evening (Saturday) leaving the judges "gobsmacked" with a gasp-inducing, time-travelling trick, which involved a deck of cards and two phones.

In fact, Jasper pulled off a series of tricks that left the judges in complete shock, especially judge Ashley Banjo.

He began by asking Ashley to wear his backstage pass around his neck before wanting to see his phone. He made the home screen on his own phone fade to black before making it call Ashley's phone without even touching it.

Then he asked Ashley to place his phone on video mode so that he could take it, and record Ashley and his co-judges Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden.

He went onto magically produce a deck of cards from thin air and asked comic David to choose one, which was the five of diamonds.

The judges were left in awe when the youngster made the card appear in a video on Ashley Banjo's phone that he had filmed earlier in the set. But the act didn't stop there. Ashley was left gobsmacked when he discovered the card had also been filmed around Ashley's neck instead of his backstage pass and finally, Ashley was asked to check the pocket of his jacket ...only to find the card there!

Jasper received overwhelming praise from BGT judges Ashley Banjo, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon and despite being chosen as the judges' top three performers of the night, he missed out on a place in the finals. Instead, comedic pianist Jon Courtenay become the show’s fourth finalist after winning the panel over with his performance.

Delighted with his jaw-dropping act, Ribblesdale High School's headteacher, Mrs Horrocks commented: "What an outstanding performance from Jasper!

"We are incredibly proud of how far he has come.... and we know that he is still so young and hasn't yet finished developing and extending his skills as a magician. We can't wait to see what the future holds for this talented young man."

His form tutor, Mrs Jeeves, added: "What a performance and thoroughly deserving of a position in the final! We are incredibly proud of Jasper and form 10C will support him all the way. Go Jasper!"

"Well done the magical man!!! I asked him if he could stick me some more hair on the front of my head? Unfortunately he said he couldn’t perform miracles!"
