Clarets fans urged to don their shirts and bring their flags for family friendly Black Lives Matter demo in Burnley

The event has been organised by the group Burnley Fans Against Racism, formed following the flying of a "White Lives Matter Burnley" banner during Burnley Football Club's recent match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The demonstration will be held on Sunday at 2-30pm in Burnley's Peace Garden, outside Burnley Library, the scene of a vigil supporting the BLM movement earlier this month.

Hide AdA spokesman for the group said: "Following the ‘White Lives Matter’ banner last week, a few Clarets fans and local people who are fed up of racism in Burnley created a page on Facebook called Burnley Fans Against Racism. A few key members from the group have created this event ‘Burnley Against Racism – Black Lives Matter'.

"Everyone is welcome to join the family friendly demonstration at 2-30pm, right after we pick up another three points against Sheffield Utd (hopefully!) followed by 'Taking the Knee' at 3pm.
"We are asking people to wear their Burnley shirts, bring their flags, make placards and banners, bring their best chanting voices and celebrate our town's diversity, on and off the pitch.
"Also we are asking anyone attending to please respect social distance guidelines and remember this is a family friendly event, a celebration not a confrontation."
