A fund raising night held for BK's Heroes in memory of chef Ben King, raised the grand total of 1,751.

For that was the amount raised at an evening at the Sparrowhawk in Fence where Ben King, who lived in Reedley, worked as chef. He set up the charity, BK’s Heroes, before losing a courageous battle against two brain tumours.

The charity night was hosted by landlord Mark Etherington ad his wife Janet who were joined by Ben’s parents, Fiona and David and his brother Dan.

Mark said: “Ben was an inspirational young man and having his family there made the night even more special.” BK’s Heroes raises awareness of brain and kidney disease.
