#applaudNHS, a powerful anthem to recognise the heroic work of NHS doctors and nurses and other healthcare professionals, is the brainchild of David Barnes, lead singer and former star of The Voice, who wrote and recorded the song in eight days.

Sir Cliff Richard and Daniel O’Donnell, are the latest big names to join Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs, Britain’s Got Talent winner Colin Thackery, former Olympic champion Denise Lewis and Channel 4 SAS Who Dares Wins presenter Colin Maclachlan showing their support.

They hope that people will download the single, which is available from all leading streaming platforms, including Spotify, Amazon Music and iTunes and leave a message of support.

David said: “I am extremely excited to be singing on the track and cannot believe how hard and smart the whole team has worked, everyone playing their part with such enthusiasm and intent. And we are so grateful to the Daily Express for its editorial support.”

And Christina Johnston added: “Everyone involved has given their services willingly and for free, and we all feel truly humbled by the work the NHS is doing to save lives during this coronavirus pandemic.”
