In a bid to raise invaluable funds for The Little Princess Trust and for her best friend since nursery, a Burnley nine-year-old is braving the scissors to have her luscious locks snipped in the name of charity.

Inspired to make a difference in any way she could, Rosewood Primary School student, Keira-Louise Winder, is having her hair cut to raise as much money as possible for The Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Keira-Louise also wants to raise money for her best friend, Noah Pickard - who uses a wheelchair and has cerebral palsy and quadriplegia - to use in any way he wants, be that future wheelchairs, other disability provision, or a day out with his mother, Helen, and sister, Eve.

"I'm very proud, her dad's super proud, we all are," said Emma Winder, Keira-Louise's mother. "She always thinks of everyone else; loads of her friends are saying 'how can you do it,' but she knows it will make someone else happy.

"I think if I was nine, I wouldn't want to do it!" Emma added of Keira-Louise, who is in Year 4. "But shes not thinking about herself. She wants to make other children and Noah happy."

The haircut will be taking place at her family home on Monday, April 30th, with Keira-Louise's family - her father, Kyle, her brother, Kaiden (seven), and baby sister, Kailey (11 months) - all firmly behind her charitable endeavors.

Keen to get involved themselves, Tesco Burnley and the Wacky Warehouse at the Hollywood Star have also donated toys for Keira-Louise to raffle off at school to help with her fundraising campaign, which raised £62 as her fellow Rosewood Primary pupils chipped in with the support of teachers.

"She's never had a proper, full-on haircut, so it's really long," explained Emma ahead of the cut. "She'd seen stories on TV about children losing their hair, and she's been asking for years to donate her hair to do something for them.

"She loves her long locks but she's dead-set on doing it," Emma said.
