Burnley Auctioneers' to host charity pub walk for Alzheimer's Society
Around 100 walkers, from the ages of one to 70, are expected to put their best feet forward this weekend for a very good cause.
A charity pub has been organised by Burnley Auctioneers to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. Setting off at 11am from The Woodman Inn on Todmorden Road this Saturday (July 18) the eight mile route takes in nine watering holes, rounding off The Royal Dyche.
The idea for the walk came from Lily Bradshaw, a director at Burnley Auctioneers, as her grandad, Allan Room, was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Lily (22) said: “As this is so close to home we have realised the effect this disease has on families so we wanted to do something fun that would appeal to people and also raise awareness of a serious disease.”

Admin assistant Amelia Tahir, who is 23, has designed a map for walkers and merchandise including t shirts, badges and ‘goody’ bags for what they hope will become an annual event. Amelia said: “If anyone wants to take part they can join us at the starting point or along the route as quite a few people are planning to do that.”
The route includes The Ram Inn, Kettledrum and Queens in Cliviger, The Bay Horse, Crooked Billet and Thornton Arms in Worsthorne followed by The Park View and The Royal Dyche. The walkers will have collection buckets and for anyone who can’t join the walk but would like to make a donation can do so by clicking HERE.
