"I looked in the mirror and just didn't like what I saw," said Lucy who has shed an incredible six stone in nine months. "It was the largest size and I just didn't feel right in it at all."

Lucy joined Barrowford's Slimming World classes at Pendle Heritage Centre in September last year and within a month she had already lost a stone.

By the time lockdown hit in March Lucy, who lives with her family in Gisburn, was four stone lighter and had no intention of letting the pandemic prevent her from reaching her goal.

Lucy, who will be 21 in January, added: " I made sure I still weighed in weekly and recorded my weights and joined in the Zoom meetings for the extra support. I just stuck to my routine and the support of the class and consultant Janet Barnes was invaluable, I couldn't have done it without her.

"I was absolutely delighted when I hit my target in June. I feel so much better, fitter and healthier."

Lucy, who works on an organic farm in Rimington and is actively involved with the Bolton by Bowland Young Farmers, now weighs in at a svelte 11 stone six pounds. A keen swimmer she has dropped from a size 18 to a 12.

She had been looking forward to showing off her new look over the Christmas and New Year party season but the continuing covid crisis has put paid to that. But Lucy is determined to maintain her fabulous weight loss and it will be a different story when she is bridesmaid for her friend's wedding in August.

After losing weight twice in the past, only to see it pile back on, Lucy believes her success this time is down to the fact she did it for herself.

She said: "Previously I wasnt that bothered and I was doing it for someone else.

"But this time I did it for me."

Barrowford Slimming World continue to meet every Wednesday and Thursday at Pendle Heritage Centre and every Tuesday at St John’s Church Centre in Nelson.

All Covid 19 protection procedures are in place and the sessions are currently limited numbers so anyone who would like to join is asked to contact Janet Barnes on 07791979616 to book a place.
