Alfie Smith has already raised an amazing £517, just under a week into the challenge, which has seen him clock up two to three miles a day, no mean feat for a seven-year-old!
Alfie's proud mum, Lauren Hughes (30) said: "Alfie asked if he could do something on his own to help children who don't have a lot of food so we came up with the idea of walking the marathon.

"Alfie just gets on with it. We are so proud of him."
Even the recent snow has not stopped Alfie from completing his daily walks with his roofer dad, Jonathon Smith, from their home in Brunshaw. Although they did have to cut their last walk, up Hurstwood, short as it was so cold.
Alfie now has just over 11 miles to go before the end of the challenge on Wednesday next week (February 17th)
The plan is for the family to use the money to do a food shop which they will then donate to three different foodbanks.

Alfie was inspired to do the challenge after he took part in a similar one with St Stephen's 19th Burnley Scouts in 2019 where he is a member of the Beavers. The youngsters completed tasks and chores for their families to earn £5 which they put towards a shopping trip to buy food to donate to the Spacious Place foodbank.
