Adorable hand knitted bees create a real buzz for dedicated Burnley park fundraisers

Fundraisers were certainly not stung when a volunteer made a collection of hand knitted bees to sell.

The adorable little bees sold out right away and the proceeds will be put towards the creation of an amenities and sensory area at Ightenhill Park in Burnley.

The bee project was the latest in a series of fund raising efforts by the park's Friends group. And it is certainly in keeping with the vibrant park which has its own bee hives cared for by volunteers.

Always looking for original ideas to boost funds, this year the group has raised £6,000 despite the setbacks of Covid 19.

Unable to stage the summer festival due to the pandemic, volunteers held a 'coffee and cake to go' event in the park during the first lockdown which was well supported by residents of Ightenhill and Gannow.
