5. Bleakholt
About Marlie...Gorgeous seven-year-old Shar Pei Cross Marlie is looking for a very special home to call his own. He is very typical of the breed in that he can be wary of strangers but is very loyal and devoted to those he knows. Marlie is looking for a quiet home without many visitors where he can feel safe and relaxed. He has had some behavioural training and has done so well. If you give Marlie the time to get to know and trust you, you will be rewarded with a loving, intelligent and faithful friend. Marlie would be suited to either a single person or couple but a home without children or other pets is a must. He does need someone willing to come up on several occasions to meet him and initial meets would just be walks to begin with and not hands-on initially. Marlie really does have the potential to be the most amazing companion. He just needs that special home willing to take things slowly. He is not suitable for a first-time dog owner. Photo: Submit

About Humbug...Humbug was born on the rescue's site back in 2014 and was returned just five months later through little fault of his own. He has been with the charity ever since. Having spent most of his life in a kennel environment, he is a complex little soul with his own insecurities and phobias, particularly in a household environment (as you can imagine) and therefore we are looking for a committed home that is willing to create a supportive environment and continue his training programme. Humbug can be a little unsure of meeting new people initially, but with a slow and steady introduction, you will quickly have a new best friend – be prepared for some serious cuddles and smooches! Axel...Axel is a six-year-old English Bull Terrier. He is a friendly boy but can be a bit crazy in a good way. We are looking for a home that has had experience with EBTs and their quirky ways. We think Axel would be better suited to a child and pet-free home. Axel has had surgery on his back leg so exercise will need to be kept at a minimum to start with. Photo: Submit

Ziggy...Ziggy is a one-year-old Terrier Cross. He came to Bleakholt as a stray therefore we have limited information regarding his background. He’s a fun, active energetic boy who loves being out and about. He has been friendly with most people after introduction. He can at times be vocal towards other dogs while out on walks so would therefore benefit from additional training regarding this. He walks well on a lead and harness, he loves playing with tennis balls. Ziggy will need an experienced and active home that understands his mental and physical needs. He will need a pet-free, adult-only home that is willing to give him the time to settle in to his new environment and where he isn’t left alone for long periods of time. Photo: Submit
