10 photographs that will take you back to Burnley town centre in the 1980s

The images, taken in 1981, capture cars driving along St James’ Street back before its pedestrianisation, and also offer us a glimpse inside a bustling Burnley Market Hall.

For anybody who would like to see more of Burnley’s past, Burnley Civic Trust archive rooms are now open to a restricted number of volunteers who have been vaccinated.
