Pendle Post Offices shake-up
Fence Post Office is now located inside Fence Village Store, in Wheatley Lane Road. Post Office bosses said the new facility will be open seven days a week and operate longer opening hours on week days.
Suzanne Richardson, regional manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closures programmes.”
In a further re-shuffle, the Belle Vue Post Office branch in Leeds Road, Nelson, will move into the Spar store further down Leeds Road with longer opening hours and easier wheelchair access, while Barrowford, which has been without a post office for a year could see a new facility soon.
Two businesses in Barrowford have applied to host the Post Office in their premises after it closed in February last year.
Suzanne Richardson added: “Local residents will benefit from significantly longer opening hours, including Saturday afternoon, Sunday and longer opening times throughout the week.
“This will allow customers to spread their visits and access our services seven days a week and at times that suit them better. I have carefully considered our original proposal, the feedback received during the public consultation period and the impact on local residents and the wider community. Having also reviewed pedestrian and vehicular access to the new site, I am confident that the new branch is suitably located and that this new way of offering Post Office services will meet customer needs.”
