Zero tolerance over disabled discrimination

I was very cross when I read Joanne Brown’s letter about a taxi driver’s shabby treatment of a disabled passenger.

I chair Ribble Valley Borough Council’s Licensing Committee and would urge Mrs Brown to contact Jane Horsfield at the council to make a formal complaint.

We have a zero tolerance policy on discrimination and have a range of sanctions at our disposal to discipline errant drivers, including suspending and ultimately revoking their licence to operate as driver (or owner) for a taxi firm.

Life is difficult enough in a wheelchair without intolerant behaviour of this sortandI will do all I can to stamp it out.

Coun. Jan Alcock,

Moorfield, Whalley.
