Why charge for the town bonfire?
Could Coun. J. Harbour please explain the need to charge for the communal bonfire?
The charge is minimal, I agree, but looking at the leaflet advertising the event, there is to be a funfair, side stalls and more than likely the potato chats stalls, so the night could turn out to be quite an expense.
But I would like to ask Coun. Harbour, do they, the said stalls, not pay a fee for the night? If this is the case, why can’t the money made from the stalls cover the cost of the bonfire and fireworks?
My advice to parents of kiddies wanting to see the fireworks: go to a high point in Burnley and watch them for free.
