‘Value gym’ plan withdrawn
I was concerned to read Coun. Paul White’s comments about the withdrawal of a proposal for a “value” gym as part of the redevelopment of the former Asda premises.
He said: “I am pleased Asda are rethinking their Pure Gym application. We have local gyms, operated by local businesspeople which I would not want to see suffer as a result of a multi-national company.”
As Deputy Leader of the Conservatives on Pendle Council, should he not have been championing the four excellent gyms operated by the Pendle Leisure Trust?
Surely the better those gyms perform, the less money the council will have to give the leisure trust in terms of their annual grant.
