I doubt the 30 million day-old male chicks annually thrown in the macerator at birth would appreciate her comment that a short life is better than no life, neither would the 100,000 male dairy calves shot at birth annually in the UK.

Male chicks are useless to the egg production industry and similarly male calves are surplus to the dairy industry; by the law of averages 50% of each will be male.

This is the age of factory farming. The majority of food animals are raised in zero grazing conditions, not in sunny pastures.
