LETTER: Roadworks should take place in school holidays
I was driving into Burnley along my usual Padiham Road route when I saw a sign warning of imminent roadworks at Gannow roundabout.
At first I thought it was a belated April Fool joke as the start date was indicated as being Monday, April 15th, the very day all the schools return after the Easter break.
Surely it would have made more sense to have carried out the work during the school holidays when there is a marked drop in the level of traffic needing to use this busy route into or out of town.
