LETTER: Madcap plan to make Palestinian links

many years ago, when trendy town councils were in vogue, our elected representatives voted to establish a day of mourning to mark the bombing at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

However, in deference to the Pendle residents who themselves or family members had suffered in Japanese hands during the Second World War, the matter was dropped.

In other words, it was not a good idea, nor is the current plan to forge links with Beit Leed.

If this madcap plan comes to fruition it will send an immediate and clear message round the globe that we, the people of Pendle, approve of terrorism and have taken sides.
