LETTER: Grass mowing cutbacks lead to eyesores

ON watching men from the council cut the grass in Parklands View, I noticed part of it is not being cut.

It has been like this for a few weeks, so we asked the workmen why it had not been done. The answer was “cut backs”.

The grass is now about 12in. high, and will be twice as high in a short time. The time it would take to finish the mowing properly would be about 15 minutes.

It will not be long before the site becomes an eyesore. I thought t the council, or county council, whichever is responsible for mowing, wants to do away with “eyesores”.

Could it be, though, it is because of an “out of sight, out of mind” policy that the work is not done — it is not in the town centre where VIPs and dignitaries see it. I don’t think it would break the bank to pay the workmen the extra 15 minutes to do a proper job.
